What Is a Bubble Bed?

A bubble bed is an upholstered bed frame with a bubble-style headboard. Instead of a flat panel, the headboard is built from rounded, padded segments that look soft and pillowy. Many designs carry the same bubble panels onto the footboard and side rails, so the whole frame has no hard corners.

Bubble beds are sometimes called cloud bubble beds. The difference is in the shape: a bubble bed has separate rounded segments, while a cloud bed usually has one thick padded surround.

Most of our bubble beds come with a choice of base:

• Gas-lift ottoman base. The mattress platform lifts on gas struts to reveal storage under the whole bed. Use it for spare duvets, suitcases and out-of-season clothes.
• Divan ottoman base. A solid upholstered base with lift-up storage.
• Slatted base. No storage, for a lighter feel and airflow under the mattress.

Front-Lift or Side-Lift Storage

Selected bubble storage beds let you choose which way the base opens:

• Front lift opens from the foot end. It suits small rooms where there's little space beside the bed.
• Left or right lift opens from the side. It suits beds with the foot end close to a wall or wardrobe.

Our bubble beds come in standard UK sizes. The sizes below are mattress sizes. The padded bubble frame is wider and longer, so check the frame dimensions on each product page before you order.

Single Bubble Bed (3ft)

A single bubble bed takes a 90 × 190 cm mattress. It suits children's rooms, teenagers and box rooms. The rounded headboard has no hard edges, so it's a safe, cosy choice for younger sleepers. Shop 3ft single beds.

Small Double Bubble Bed (4ft)

A small double bubble bed takes a 120 × 190 cm mattress. It gives one adult more room to spread out without filling a small bedroom. It's a popular choice for guest rooms and teenagers. Shop 4ft small double beds.

Double Bubble Bed (4ft6)

King Size Bubble Bed (5ft)

A king size bubble bed takes a 150 × 200 cm mattress, 15 cm wider and 10 cm longer than a double. Couples get more personal space, and the wider headboard shows off the bubble shape. Allow extra room for the padded frame. Shop 5ft king size beds.

Super King Bubble Bed (6ft)

A super king bubble bed takes a 180 × 200 cm mattress, our largest size. It suits large main bedrooms and couples who want plenty of space. The wide bubble headboard makes a bold feature behind the bed. Shop 6ft super king beds.

Bubble Bed Fabrics and Colours

Choose the fabric that suits how you want the bed to look and feel.

• Teddy bouclé. Fleecy, looped fabric that shows off the rounded bubble shape best. It hides small marks well, but pale shades need regular vacuuming. See our bouclé beds.
• Plush velvet. A smooth, soft pile with a gentle sheen that gives the segments a richer finish. It suits deeper colours and modern rooms. See our plush velvet beds.

Neutral shades like beige, grey and silver let the bubble shape stand out. Bolder tones like navy, red or yellow make the bed the centre of the room.
