What a Mirror Bed Brings to Your Bedroom

A mirror bed is an upholstered bed with mirror panels built into the frame. Depending on the design, the mirror runs around the headboard, along the side rails, or both.

The effect is more than decoration:

  • More light. Mirrors reflect lamps and daylight, which helps north-facing or dark rooms.
  • More space, visually. Reflections make a small bedroom feel larger.
  • A real focal point. The bed becomes the first thing you notice, with no need for extra wall art.

Because a mirror bed already makes a statement, it looks best with simple bedding and plain walls around it.

Are Mirror Beds Safe? Glass, Panels and Fittings Explained

Yes. Our mirror panels are made from [toughened glass / acrylic mirror] and fixed securely to a strong timber frame, so they stay put during everyday use.

  • Mirror material: Mirrored beds typically use silver-coated glass, acrylic, or polycarbonate mirror panels.
  • Edges: [polished / bevelled], with no sharp corners exposed.
  • Fixing: Mirror panels are attached to the bed frame or headboard using four common methods, depending on the structure and mounting surface.
  • Frame: Solid timber, upholstered with generous padding.

Glass gives the clearest, brightest reflection. The acrylic mirror is lighter and won't shatter, but the reflection can look slightly softer.

Mirror Headboard Bed Designs to Suit Your Style

We make multiple mirror bed designs, grouped into four styles. Each one can be made in your choice of fabric and colour.

Style What it looks like Designs
Chesterfield Deep buttoning with a mirrored border around the headboard Tavira, Novara
Sunrise A fan-shaped headboard that fans out like rays of light Orelia, Orlena
Panelled Clean, modern panels, with mirror trim on the headboard (Elma) or full-length mirrored sides (Faras) Elma, Faras
Art Deco Bold geometric headboards, often with full-length mirrored side panels and gold or black detailing Monelle, Isadora, Elaris, Lumira, Solenne

If you want the most mirror, choose a bed with full-length mirrored side panels, such as the Isadora, Elaris or Lumira. If you prefer a subtle touch, a bed with a headboard with mirror trim, like the Tavira or Elma, adds sparkle without taking over the room.

Mirrored Headboard Heights and Ceiling Clearance

Our mirrored headboards range from 50 inches (127 cm) on the Tavira and Elma to 85 inches (216 cm) on the Isadora. Most designs can be made taller or shorter when you order.

Before choosing a tall headboard, check three things:

  1. Ceiling height. A standard UK ceiling is about 240 cm, so leave some space above the headboard.
  2. Windows. Make sure the headboard won't block a window behind the bed.
  3. Sockets and switches. Note where they are, so you can still reach them.

Choosing the Right Size Mirror Bed for Your Room

Every mirror bed is made to fit a standard UK mattress. We can also make custom sizes to your measurements.

Bed size Mattress size Best for
Single (3ft) 90 × 190 cm Guest rooms and teenagers
Small double (4ft) 120 × 190 cm One adult, or smaller bedrooms
Double (4ft6) 135 × 190 cm Couples in average-sized rooms
King size (5ft) 150 × 200 cm Couples who want more space
Super king (6ft) 180 × 200 cm Large main bedrooms

The upholstered frame adds to the mattress size, so check the exact measurements on each product page. Leave at least 60 cm of walking space on each side, so the mirror panels don't get knocked.

Mirror Beds With Ottoman Storage

All our mirror beds come with a slatted base as standard. It supports the mattress well and lets air flow underneath.

If you need more space, several designs can be ordered with storage:

  • Gas-lift ottoman. The whole mattress platform lifts up on gas struts, revealing storage underneath.
  • Divan ottoman. A storage base built into the bed's divan.

This works well for spare duvets, pillows, towels and out-of-season clothes. Storage options are shown on each product page.

Fabric and Colour Pairings That Make the Mirror Shine

Our mirror beds are upholstered in plush velvet. It has a soft feel and a gentle sheen that sits well next to mirror. Every design can be made in a range of colours.

Pairings that work well:

  • Black velvet with mirror: Bold and dramatic, and the most "Hollywood" look.
  • Cream or beige velvet: Soft and light, ideal for small or north-facing rooms.
  • Teal or blue velvet: Rich colour that looks striking against the reflections.

Keep the rest of the room calm. Plain walls, simple bedding and warm bedside lamps let the mirror do the work.

Keeping Your Mirror Bed Spotless and Scratch-Free

A mirror bed takes only a few minutes a week to keep looking new.

  • Dust the mirror with a dry microfibre cloth.
  • Clean marks with a glass-safe cleaner. Spray it onto the cloth, not the mirror, so it doesn't soak into the velvet.
  • Avoid rough cloths, scouring pads and strong chemicals. They can scratch or smear the mirror.
  • Vacuum the velvet gently with a soft brush attachment.
  • Check the fittings every few months, and don't lean heavy items against the headboard.
