Round Beds
A round bed changes the whole room. With no corners and a curved frame, it becomes the centrepiece of the bedroom rather than one more piece of furniture against the wall. Our circular bed frames are upholstered in soft plush velvet, topped with a tall 50 inch headboard and made to order in UK standard sizes, from small double to super king. Choose a buttoned Chesterfield, a clean panelled design or a scalloped wingback, and we'll deliver it free to the UK mainland in around 5–7 working days.
What Makes a Circular Bed Different From a Standard Bed?
A circular bed has no sharp corners to catch your shins on, it can stand away from the wall, and it draws the eye the moment you walk into the room. It feels closer to a boutique hotel suite than a typical bedroom.
One honest point: a round bed takes up more floor space than a rectangular bed with the same sleeping area. It suits a generous master bedroom or a loft conversion far better than a box room.
Round Bed Sizes, From Small Double to Round King Size Bed
Every bed in this collection is made to order in UK standard sizes. Because the frame curves out around the mattress, the overall footprint is wider and longer than the mattress itself, so it pays to check the full measurements below rather than the bed size alone. For most couples, the round super king size bed is the sweet spot. At 72" wide it gives two adults plenty of room, while still fitting most good-sized master bedrooms.
- Small Double: 48" diameter
- Double: 54" diameter
- King Size: 60" diameter
- Super King Size: 72" diameter
- Emperor Size: 78" diameter
Will a Round Bed Fit Your Bedroom?
Measure the room before you fall for a design. Take the overall size of the bed, then add at least 60 cm on each side you need to walk around. With the headboard against a wall, a round king size bed needs a space of roughly 3.5 m wide by 3.1 m long.
Check two other things while you have the tape measure out. Make sure the 127 cm headboard clears any windowsill or radiator behind it. Then measure your doorways, stairs and landing, so the bed can get to the room.
Which Mattress Do I Need for a Round Bed?
Our round beds are built around a standard round mattress in the size you choose. If you already have a good mattress in that size, you can keep using it. If you need a new one, any UK standard mattress will fit, including those in our mattress range.
What Styles of Round Beds Are Available?
We make several circle bed designs, in three main styles. All have a tall 50 inch headboard and a fully upholstered base.
- Chesterfield round beds. Deep buttoning gives a classic, tailored look. The Virolla and Ismera have buttoning around the base and a curved headboard to match. The Orlena adds a wingback headboard and decorative studs for the most formal finish in the range.
- Panelled round beds. Padded vertical panels give a cleaner, more modern feel. The Bellagio keeps it simple, with panels around both base and headboard. The Mireva pairs a panelled wingback headboard with a buttoned, studded base.
- Scalloped round bed. The Roselle has a tall wingback headboard with a softly scalloped outline. It's the most decorative circular bed in the collection and a good choice if you want a softer, more feminine look.
If you're not sure, the Chesterfield designs suit traditional and period rooms. The panelled beds sit more comfortably in modern interiors.
Round Headboard Bed Designs and Headboard Height
Every headboard in the range stands 50 inches (127 cm) high as a standard and is generously padded. That's tall enough to sit up and read against in comfort, and it gives the bed real presence in the room. The height can be customised if you have a sloping ceiling or a window behind the bed. Mention it when you order. Each circular headboard is upholstered in the same fabric as the base, so the bed reads as one continuous shape.
Fabrics, Colours and Made-to-Order Options
Our round beds are pictured in plush velvet, a soft fabric with a gentle sheen that shows off the curves and buttoning. You'll see them in beige, cream, steel and silver, but each design can be made in other fabrics and colours too. Across our beds we work with plush velvet, crushed velvet, chenille, bouclé and Naples fabric.
Colours never look quite the same on a screen as they do in your bedroom. Before you commit, order a fabric swatch and see it in your own light, next to your walls and carpet.
Because each bed is made to order, you can also ask for a different headboard height.
How Much Does a Round Bed Cost?
Round beds in the UK range widely. Simple frames start at a few hundred pounds, while fully bespoke designs can cost several thousand. Our round beds are currently priced from £849.99 to £1,799.99, and that price includes the made-to-order frame, the 50 inch headboard and free delivery.
Round Bed FAQs
Is a round bed practical for everyday sleeping?
Yes, as long as the room is big enough. You get a generous sleeping area and no corners to bump into.
Can a round bed go against a wall?
Yes. Most people place the headboard flat against a wall, just like a normal bed. In a larger room, you can also angle it across a corner or stand it in the middle of the room, where the curves look their best.
Is a round king size bed big enough for two adults?
Yes. It holds a standard 150 × 200 cm king size mattress, so you have the same sleeping space as any king size bed. If you like plenty of room to stretch out, the super king takes a 180 × 200 cm mattress.
Will a round bed fit through my door and up the stairs?
Before ordering, measure the narrowest doorway, the stair width and any tight turns on the landing. If you're unsure, contact us with your measurements and we'll check for you.
How do I keep a plush velvet round bed looking good?
Vacuum the bed gently with a soft brush attachment every week or two, working in the direction of the pile. Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing. Keep the bed out of strong, direct sunlight to stop the colour fading.
